Insurance salaries in Malta

Every figure on this page comes from live Insurance jobs on myjob.mt, not from surveys or self-reported data. Only listings that publish both ends of a salary range count towards the statistics, and each one is taken at the midpoint of its range, so a €30,000–€40,000 role counts as €35,000.

Salaries are gross annual figures in euro, before income tax and social security, and exclude bonuses, commission and benefits. The typical range is the middle half of disclosed salaries (25th to 75th percentile) once at least 4 listings disclose pay; below that we show the full disclosed span instead. Everything recalculates as listings are posted, renewed or expire.

Seniority is the biggest lever. Among Insurance listings that disclose pay, junior roles sit around €27,500, mid roles sit around €30,000 and senior roles sit around €35,000.

Industry matters too. Beyond Insurance itself, these listings also reach into Tech, and pay bands differ between sectors: iGaming and financial services tend to advertise the highest ranges in Malta, while hospitality and retail sit lower but often add service charge, tips or accommodation.

The most active employers for Insurance right now are MAPFRE Malta, Laferla Insurance and Mapfre Assist. Larger, internationally owned companies tend to publish salary ranges more consistently than small local firms.

The median Insurance salary of €32,500 is a gross annual figure. On Malta's single-filer tax brackets it attracts about €4,725 in income tax and €2,830 in employee social security (10% of gross, capped), leaving roughly €24,945 a year, or €2,079 a month. That is an effective deduction of about 23%.

Married and parent filing statuses widen the tax-free band, so take-home is higher for many households. Employers also pay statutory bonuses of €512.52 a year in four instalments on top of the advertised salary, and the annual cost-of-living adjustment set in the Budget is added to base pay each January. Use the €28k–€35k range above as your anchor and adjust for seniority, industry and whether the role is licensed or regulated. Listings that publish a range are a strong signal: employers in Malta rarely advertise a band they are not prepared to pay at the top of for the right candidate.

Ask what sits outside the base figure. Health insurance, a performance bonus, relocation support, a learning budget and hybrid days are all common in Malta listings and can be worth several thousand euro a year. For roles in iGaming, financial services and other regulated sectors, relevant licensing or compliance experience commands a premium.

Finally, compare like with like. Salaries here are annual gross figures; some employers quote monthly gross or net in conversation, so confirm which basis an offer uses before comparing it with the numbers on this page.
