How myjob.mt uses cookies and similar technologies. Last updated: 10 April 2026.

Overview

myjob.mt is committed to protecting your privacy. We use only strictly necessary cookies that are required for the website to function. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, social media cookies, or any third-party cookies for profiling, behavioural targeting, or marketing purposes.

Because we rely exclusively on strictly necessary cookies, we are not required to obtain your consent before setting them. This is in accordance with Article 5(3) of the EU ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC), Malta's S.L. 586.01 (Processing of Personal Data — Electronic Communications Sector), and the guidance issued by Malta's Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC). We display a cookie notice on your first visit for transparency only.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser. They allow websites to remember information about your visit — such as whether you are signed in — so the site works correctly on subsequent pages and return visits.

Cookies we set

The table below lists every cookie that myjob.mt sets on your device. All are first-party cookies (set by myjob.mt, not by a third party) and all are classified as strictly necessary for the operation of the Site.

Cookie namePurposeDurationType
better-auth.session_tokenKeeps you signed in after authenticating with Google. Without this cookie you would need to sign in on every page load.Session / 30 daysEssential
mjmt_consentRecords that you have seen the cookie notice so it is not shown again on subsequent visits.1 yearEssential
mjmt_nl_dismissedRecords that you have dismissed or subscribed via the newsletter popup, preventing it from reappearing.1 yearEssential

Third-party cookies

We do not set third-party cookies on your device. However, third-party services we integrate with may set their own cookies on their own domains during specific interactions:

Google (authentication)

When you use Sign in with Google, Google may set its own cookies on its domains (e.g. accounts.google.com) during the OAuth sign-in flow. These cookies are controlled entirely by Google and are used to authenticate your Google account, maintain your Google session, and protect against fraud. myjob.mt does not set, read, or have access to these cookies.

If you are already signed in to your Google account in the same browser, Google may recognise your session automatically when you click “Sign in with Google”. This is standard OAuth behaviour and does not involve myjob.mt sharing any additional data with Google.

For details on the cookies Google sets, see Google's Cookie Policy.

Stripe (payment processing)

When you are redirected to Stripe Checkout to pay for a job listing, Stripe may set cookies on the checkout.stripe.com domain and may also set cookies on our domain for fraud detection purposes:

Cookie namePurposeSet byType
__stripe_midFraud prevention — helps Stripe detect fraudulent payment activity.Stripe (on our domain)Essential
__stripe_sidSession-based fraud prevention — supports Stripe's payment security checks during checkout.Stripe (on our domain)Essential

These Stripe cookies are classified as strictly necessary because they are essential for the secure processing of payments. They do not track you for advertising purposes. Stripe's use of cookies is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy. myjob.mt does not control the content of these cookies.

Authentication

We use better-auth, an open-source authentication library, to handle sign-in via Google OAuth. The session cookie it sets is a secure, HTTP-only, first-party cookie used solely to maintain your authenticated session. No personal data is shared with third parties through this process beyond what is necessary to complete the OAuth handshake with Google.

Analytics

myjob.mt does not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any cookie-based analytics service. We use Vercel Analytics in its privacy-friendly, cookieless mode. This means:

  • No cookies are set for analytics purposes.
  • No personally identifiable information is collected.
  • No cross-site or cross-device tracking occurs.
  • Data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify individual visitors.

When you click an “Apply” button on a job listing, we may append standard UTM parameters to the destination URL so the employer can see that the visit originated from myjob.mt. This is URL-based referral attribution — no cookies are involved.

Cookies we do NOT use

For absolute clarity, myjob.mt does not use any of the following:

  • Advertising or marketing cookies — we do not run ads, retarget visitors, or participate in any advertising network.
  • Analytics cookies — our analytics solution (Vercel Analytics) is entirely cookieless.
  • Social media tracking cookies — we do not embed social media widgets, share buttons, or pixels that set cookies.
  • Cross-site tracking cookies — we do not share data with data brokers, ad networks, or any third party for tracking purposes.
  • Profiling or behavioural cookies — we do not build profiles of your browsing behaviour, interests, or preferences.

Managing cookies

You can delete or block cookies at any time through your browser settings. Please note that if you block the better-auth.session_token cookie, you will not be able to sign in or use features that require authentication (such as posting job listings, revealing recruiter contact details, or managing your account).

Instructions for managing cookies in popular browsers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies

Legal basis

All cookies used by myjob.mt are strictly necessary for the provision of the service you have requested. Under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) and Malta's S.L. 586.01, strictly necessary cookies are exempt from the requirement to obtain prior consent. The GDPR legal basis for processing data through these cookies is legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — our interest in operating a functional, secure website. This is consistent with the guidance issued by the IDPC.

If we ever introduce non-essential cookies (such as optional analytics or marketing cookies), we will update this policy, implement a consent mechanism that meets the IDPC's requirements (no pre-ticked boxes, no cookie walls, freely withdrawable consent), and only set those cookies after you have given explicit, informed consent.

Changes to this policy

If we introduce new cookie categories, we will update this page and request your consent before setting any non-essential cookies. We will never retroactively change the purpose of an existing cookie without informing you.
