About the role
Betsson Group is hiring an Observability Engineer for its infrastructure team in Malta. The role builds and runs the monitoring platforms that show how the company's distributed systems are behaving.
What you'd do
You would design and maintain the observability stack, built around Prometheus, the Grafana LGTM+ stack and OpenTelemetry, and tune how telemetry is collected, stored and displayed so it scales without excess cost. Working with development and operations teams, you plug monitoring and alerting into the CI/CD pipeline and write custom instrumentation for metrics, logs and traces across microservices. You also set up anomaly detection to catch problems early, lead root cause analysis after incidents, automate deployments with Terraform and Git workflows, and mentor junior colleagues. The job includes a 24/7 on-call rota.
What you need
Hands-on experience with most of AWS, Kubernetes, Helm and Ansible, plus Docker and infrastructure as code with Terraform. You should script in Python, Bash or Go, understand distributed systems, networking and security, and be skilled at configuring Prometheus, Grafana and APM tools. Knowledge of OpenTelemetry and eBPF is expected.
