About the role
Betsson Group is hiring a Gaming Architect to set and govern the backend architecture of its gaming platform. The role turns product, operational and regulatory needs into technical designs across gameplay, provider integrations, wallet and player flows, promotions, responsible gaming and regulatory functions.
What you'd do
You would define the target architecture for the gaming backend and produce solution designs, integration contracts and technical roadmaps. Using domain-driven design, you model service boundaries and event flows, and set the patterns for APIs, event streaming, queues and provider protocols so new providers, brands and markets can be onboarded faster. Designs must hold up under peak load, so you define service-level objectives and guide capacity planning, resilience testing and observability. Security and compliance are built in, with regulated components kept separate where jurisdictions require it. You lead architecture reviews, document decisions, prioritise technical debt, and mentor tech leads and engineers throughout delivery.
What you need
Several years as a senior engineer designing complex backend or distributed systems, with a degree in Computer Science or similar or equivalent experience. Strong knowledge of microservices, domain-driven and event-driven architecture and API design is required, along with hands-on .NET or Java, SQL and NoSQL, Kafka or RabbitMQ, Docker and Kubernetes, and CI/CD and DevSecOps practice. AWS or similar cloud experience is highly desirable, and a background in online gaming or another regulated, high-volume industry is an advantage.
