About the role
RS2 is hiring a QA Engineer to test its payment systems, with a focus on automated testing and validating transaction data flows. No fintech background is needed to start, as RS2 provides structured training on the ISO 8583 protocol and payment architectures.
What you'd do
You would design test strategies and write automated scripts to check system functions and API integrations. Much of the work is validating ISO 8583 message payloads against specifications, using tools such as jPOS and internal simulators to mimic terminals, acquirers, issuers and card networks. When tests fail you dig through logs and data payloads to find the root cause, and work with the core developers to reproduce and fix transactional and routing bugs.
What you need
2 to 4 years in QA, or QA combined with software development, focused on complex systems and APIs. Solid Java plus JavaScript for Postman assertions, experience with frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG or REST Assured, strong SQL for data verification, and comfort on the Linux command line are required. ISO 8583 exposure, TCP/IP socket knowledge, CI/CD pipelines especially GitLab, Docker and Git are plus points.
