About the role
AX Construction is hiring a Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercial side of its building projects. The role runs from early cost planning through to final accounts.
What you'd do
You would prepare cost plans with architects, engineers and subcontractors, draw up tender and contract documents including bills of quantities, and evaluate and negotiate tenders. Once work starts you keep projects within budget, measure and value variations, agree interim payments and settle final accounts, and carry out monthly valuations with forecasts of final cost. You vet and certify subcontractor tenders, contracts and valuations, advise project staff on contractual matters, and report to the General Manager and Managing Director on labour, material and subcontractor costs.
What you need
A Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or similar and at least 2 years in quantity surveying or cost estimating, with demonstrable experience of construction contracts. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and building regulations, proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, and good English are required, along with negotiation skills and the ability to produce clear reports.
