What you'd do

You coordinate internal teams, vendors and third parties, manage risks, keep documentation current, and report or escalate to management. Running kick-offs and status meetings, keeping teams aligned and clearing roadblocks are a regular part of the job.
What you need
A solid IT technical background and a thorough grasp of project management fundamentals, with experience in tools such as Microsoft Project and JIRA. You should be able to lead technical experts, communicate well with different stakeholders and work through ambiguous situations. A PRINCE2, Six Sigma or similar certification is a big plus.
