Backend Engineer

Responsibilities: 

• Design, build, and maintain backend services with a focus on reliability, scalability, and clean delivery.

• Develop backend services within an event-driven, microservices architecture, using message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.

• Take ownership of well-scoped features and components, from implementation and testing through deployment and production support.

• Work closely with other engineers, Product, and QA to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with team goals.

• Actively participate in code reviews, both giving and receiving feedback to improve code quality.

• Mentor and support junior engineers through technical guidance and day-to-day collaboration.

• Participate in technical interviews, typically focused on specific technologies or problem-solving areas.

• Contribute to improving engineering practices, tooling, and codebases within the team.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of hands-on backend engineering experience.

• Practical experience with Java, Spring Framework / Spring Boot, and building REST-based services.

• Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures, including message brokers such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar (required).

• Experience working with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, OracleDB, or similar).

• Experience developing and maintaining distributed systems and microservices.

• A solid focus on code quality and automated testing practices (unit and integration tests).

• Comfortable using Git-based workflows and collaborating within cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have:

• Exposure to CQRS, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), event sourcing, or NoSQL databases.

• Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD).

• Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, or cloud platforms (e.g. GCP).

• Knowledge of Kotlin.
