About the role
MeDirect is hiring a Financial Accounting Manager for its Finance team, reporting to the Senior Manager. The role oversees the accounting for the bank's lending and investment portfolios and hedging instruments, under direct ECB supervision.
What you'd do
You would review the accounting and reporting for the mortgage, corporate lending and investment portfolios, funding structures and hedge accounting, checking it all against IFRS and group policy. Monthly management reporting and the interim and annual financial statements go through you, and you support internal and external audits. You give technical accounting guidance on complex transactions and new products, working with Business, Treasury and Risk, and you strengthen the control framework. Coaching the Financial Accounting team and contributing to system changes, automation and reporting improvements are part of the remit.
What you need
A qualified accountant (ACCA, CPA, ACA or equivalent) with 8 or more years in financial accounting, reporting or audit and a record of leading teams. Strong applied IFRS knowledge and skill in challenging accounting treatments and reconciliations are required, plus a good understanding of financial instruments, treasury and hedge accounting. Advanced Excel and experience with financial systems and process optimisation are needed; coding knowledge and banking exposure are advantages.
