Role overview
KingMakers is hiring an Engineering Manager in Malta, hybrid (2 days office, 3 days remote), full-time. The role leads the engineering team behind Virtuals, a high-revenue vertical, covering people leadership, delivery ownership, and technical direction. Responsibilities span mentoring and hiring engineers, driving the roadmap, running performance cycles, guiding architecture across distributed event-driven systems, and shaping on-call culture.
Stack includes C#/.NET, Azure (AKS), MS SQL, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Terraform, and React on the frontend.
Requirements:
Proven Engineering Manager experience with direct people management
Experience leading engineers in production environments
Structured delivery ownership: planning, prioritisation, risk management
Strong stakeholder communication
Technical credibility to guide architecture without micromanaging
Nice to have: iGaming (Sportsbook particularly transferable), background in high-traffic or revenue-critical systems, distributed architectures.
