Purpose of Position
The Management Accountant in the Reporting and FP&A division will assist with strategic inputs to align with the overall goals of the organisation through, accurate financial decision-making, strategic planning, and optimised financial discipline within the airline. The post assists in delivering and executing fit for purpose processes to understand, report and anticipate the financial performance of KM Malta Airlines.
Responsibilities
Responsible for supporting the Head of the division with the management, development, and delivery of management accounting and reporting, financial reports, budgets, and cost management.
Plans and Objectives:
Participate in managing KM Malta Airlines’ accounting processes and practices, including identifying opportunities and targets to reduce KM Malta Airlines’ costs and/or increase its performance through better practices.
Reporting & General Accounting:
Assist in monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting procedures as per the guidance of the Head of Reporting and FP&A within the set timelines and analysis of monthly cash flow, profit & Loss, and balance sheet for management reporting, developing financial statements accordingly.
Assist with closing of accounts and preparing of monthly and annual financial statements.
Assist in ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This includes managing accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls. This involves regular audits and reviews to prevent and detect any discrepancies or financial mismanagement.
Budgeting:
Coordinate with management and staff to prepare budgets.
Assist in cost management on behalf of the assigned departments.
Assist in providing financial analysis to support initiatives and investments or contracts on behalf of KM Malta Airlines.
Experience, Qualifications and Skills
Minimum 3 years’ previous experience in a finance-related role (essential).
Experience in the Commercial Aviation industry is advantageous (desirable).
Experience in Maltese Aviation financial regulatory frameworks (desirable).
In possession of a recognised degree in Accountancy or an equivalent comparable professional qualification as recognised by the MQRIC (essential).
