Role overview
Our client is a family-owned business in the food manufacturing and retail industry. They are currently seeking to recruit a Junior Accountant to join their team.
Key Responsibilities:
Assisting in the preparation of daily accounting entries, including sales, purchases, expenses and bank transactions.
Performing bank, supplier, customer and balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of differences.
Supporting the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring deadlines are met.
Maintaining accurate and up to date accounting records in the company’s financial systems.
Assisting in the preparation of management reports, schedules and supporting documentation.
Processing supplier invoices, ensuring proper coding, approvals and timely posting.
Handling payroll postings, including journal entries for salaries, wages, NI contributions, tax deductions and related accruals.
Assisting during internal and external audits, preparing documentation as required.
Maintaining proper document filing, digital archiving and record retention.
Performing additional accounting or administrative tasks as may be assigned by senior team members or management.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Accounting O-Level or AAT or Diploma in Accounting.
At least one year of experience in a similar role.
Able to communicate effectively in both Maltese and English.
Self-motivated and capable of working under pressure.
Organized and adheres to deadlines.
